less is more

pangram: 100% human, high confidence

hi! it's me.

you might be wondering why the newest version of this site has changed again. it's frankly because i have learned that sometimes, making stuff to impress other people isn't really worth it. sure- you might catch attention but i don't think making stuff for others just to please them is the way to go.

i like making stuff. while that has been the theme for the past ~4 or so years, it hasn't been really for me at all. it's always to impress other people and just you know, get hired or something and frankly, it's too tiring given how motivation based i am.

i've come to the conclusion as well that less is more. you can make the most complicated thing out there thats essentially overengineered as hell, and appreciate it but honestly- the more complicated stuff is, the harder it is to maintain.

take for example: this site cleanshot 2026 09 02 at 01 15 33

it is complicated as fuck and i deem it as an engineering masterpiece or like a definition of my life's work- at least until pawl came along.

i've done so much to achieve this level of engineering. i've dealt with LODs, minimaps and so much more but just for a portfolio?? i could've made a game out of this.

yea sure it runs on an iphone 5 but like its just absurd, its not like someone is going to look at it that much or i'm getting hired out of this portfolio alone. in fact, it might do the opposite. the reality is, this site is so fucking hard to navigate despite the fact that the instruction is literally right there.

drag around empty cork to move around.

not everyone reads, and gets this and i've encountered this when showing this off- this is why i've added the simple mode and even then. that is hell to use to the point i consider it slop at this point.

i love overengineering shit- but it doesn't have to be that way, all the effort i could've been putting in reorganizing this website (which is hypocritical of me because i've redesigned this again) could've been put somewhere else that deserves more attention.

i do have the capability of making an impact, and apparently people think so too. and the first thing to do- not with just websites, generally everything at all- is to keep everything simple, stupid and work your way from there.

not sure why this is titled less is more, but i couldn't give a fuck eitherway.

cheers, may
